Description
Since 1926 Action for Children has been helping to find caring and loving homes for children who wait longer. In addition to our personal service, excellent support and comprehensive training, you will also be considered for children across the UK rather than just in your area. We need people to adopt from a variety of backgrounds so don’t rule yourself out and you might be surprised how quick the process is now!
We help place children who would otherwise struggle to find a home such as:
- black, Asian and minority ethnic background children
- babies and children who have a disability or development uncertainty
- brother and sister groups of all ages and ethnicities
- single children of all ages
Many children needing adoption have been abused, either physically or sexually. Others may have been neglected or not given love and stimulation. All will have experienced change and uncertainty. As a result, many children are angry or confused about what is happening to them. They need a great deal of love and attention to help them adjust to stable family life.
For some children it also takes more. Many children who need adopting may have never learned to trust adults or form emotional attachments. Through preparation, training and support, we will help you develop skills and strategies to help these children develop trust and attachment. You can help these children to connect and relearn how to respond to love.
